While Mo’nique would certainly consider herself a comedienne first and actress second, all the evidence is to the contrary. She managed to come from behind in the polls to claim the Best Actress spot at this year’s BET Awards held last Sunday in L.A.
Mo’nique beat out her competition, which was stacked with other serious award winners, including Taraji P. Henson (Oscar winner), Zoe Saldana, Gabourey Sidibe (Oscar winner), and Regina King.

The hits keep rolling for comedian Mo’Nique! The nominees for this year’s BET Awards have revealed one for the previous hostess of the awards ceremony, Mo’Nique, who received a nod in the category for Best Actress.

On March 7, 2010, Mo’Nique was honored with her first Academy Award, an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Precious.
